Treadmill Size: Buying Guide

6 min readWritten by the operators of 260+ WTF gymsLast verified: October 2026

A practical treadmill size is the machine footprint plus clear walking space around it, not just the belt printed on the spec sheet. For Indian homes and gyms, shortlist by treadmill length and width, treadmill belt width, treadmill belt length, ceiling height with incline, and whether delivery can pass through your door, lift or stairwell.

Footprint vs Running Area: Do Not Mix Them Up

Two measurements decide whether a treadmill will work in your space. Footprint is the outside treadmill length and width of the full machine. Running area is the usable belt surface where the foot lands. A model can have a wide, comfortable belt but still need a much longer room because of the console, frame and rear deck.

For a commercial treadmill size, the footprint usually matters first for layout, cleaning access and safe circulation. For a treadmill for home size, the access route matters just as much: main door, corridor turn, lift, stair landing and the final room all need to accept the machine’s packed or assembled size.

WTF classifies its treadmills under the C duty tier: Core — full-commercial duty: cardio, selectorized, plate-loaded and functional lines rated for 16hr+/day floors, 7 days a week; 3mm steel main frames; continuous-duty AC motors on cardio (up to 5HP continuous). That does not remove the need for space planning; it simply tells you the duty category you are comparing within.

Treadmill Belt Size Chart From the Catalogue

The table below uses catalogue running-area and dimension specs only. Where a model page lists overall dimensions, the treadmill size in feet is shown as an approximate conversion to make room planning easier. Models without a listed overall dimension should be checked on their product page before layout finalisation.

TREX-2.059x140cm216x99x172cmAbout 7.1 ft x 3.2 ft

This is not a ranking table. A longer treadmill belt length helps users with a longer stride, while treadmill belt width helps side-to-side comfort and confidence. For mixed gym use, do not assume every user walks in a straight line at the same stride; choose with user variety in mind.

What Is a Good Belt Size for Walking, Jogging and Running?

A good treadmill belt size depends on use. Walking can work with a more compact running area because stride length and speed are lower. Jogging and running usually feel better with more belt length, especially for taller users or users with a longer natural stride. A gym floor should avoid tight belts if the treadmill will serve many body types.

In the WTF catalogue, motorized commercial running areas range from compact examples such as the TREX-2.0 model at 59x140cm to longer examples such as the PHOENIX model at 60x168cm. The Motorized Treadmill model 22 lists a 58x150cm running area, while the MT200A commercial treadmill lists 60x153cm.

  • For walking-focused home use, check that the belt allows a relaxed stride without looking down continuously.
  • For running, prioritise belt length and a stable deck feel, not only console features.
  • For taller users, shortlist longer running areas first, then compare the overall room footprint.
  • For shared gyms, choose a treadmill belt width and length that suits varied members rather than one owner’s stride.
  • For higher body weight users, keep headroom below the maximum user-weight rating; do not choose a treadmill rated exactly at the user’s weight.

Maximum user-weight ratings in the listed motorized commercial models are 200Kgs, while the CURVE lists Max User Weight: 150kg and the CURVE-PRO lists Max User Weight: 180kg. Use those ratings as an upper limit, not as a target to match exactly.

Home Size vs Commercial Width: Plan Different Rooms Differently

A treadmill for home size is usually constrained by bedroom furniture, balcony doors, lift access and ceiling height. A commercial treadmill width is constrained by member movement, aisle planning, cleaning access and multiple machines placed in a row. In both cases, the mistake is the same: measuring the machine only, not the usable space around it.

If you are planning a flat or villa setup, compare treadmill choices with compact-space equipment ideas in WTF’s small-space gym guide and the broader treadmill for home guide. If you are designing a cardio zone, review the full cardio equipment category so the treadmill does not crowd bikes, ellipticals or functional training space.

Also check ceiling height with incline. A treadmill deck already raises the user above the floor, and auto incline raises the front further. Catalogue examples include 0-20% Auto Incline on models such as BEAST, DL800, MONSTER, ONYX and MT200A, and 0-15% Auto Incline on FLEX, OMEGA, PHOENIX and TREX-2.0. Tall users need extra caution here.

How to Measure the Room Before Ordering

  1. Measure the final spot: wall-to-wall length, usable width, ceiling height and any beam or fan above the deck.
  2. Tape the treadmill footprint on the floor using the model’s dimensions. Add side access and a clear rear safety zone.
  3. Check the incline position by considering the user’s height plus the raised deck when incline is active.
  4. Trace the entry route from building gate to room: door width, corridor turns, lift cabin, stairwell bends and landing space.
  5. Confirm whether the catalogue lists a folded footprint. The WTF commercial models are not described as foldable in their specs, so do not assume folding storage.
  6. If the machine is going to an upper floor, discuss floor loading with your building professional before purchase.

For buyers in NCR who want to see scale in person, WTF has a showroom at D-27, Sector 112, Noida, UP 201305; the Noida store page has map and directions. Do not rely on showroom viewing alone—still measure your own room and access path.

Product Weight, Flats and Delivery Access

Product weight and access need separate checking in Indian flats, upper-floor gyms and narrow commercial buildings. The catalogue lists PHOENIX at Product Weight: 384Kgs and FLEX at 200Kgs, while models such as BEAST (N.W/G.W 220/295Kgs), DL800 (258/293Kgs) and ONYX (189/229KGs) list net and gross weights.

For a flat, do not judge only by maximum user weight. The building floor, lift threshold, stair landing and route surface all matter. If the product has to move through a tight turn, a model with a smaller footprint may still be difficult if the route has low clearance or awkward angles.

WTF delivers and installs, provides a full GST invoice, and can provide an itemised quote within 24 hours. Share the model shortlist, floor level, lift availability, room photos and access constraints when asking for the quote so the team can understand the practical site conditions.

Price Band and Shortlist Method

For budget planning, the Commercial Treadmill band in the WTF price guide is ₹48,500–₹2,59,500 MRP. Treat this as an MRP / list-price band from the commercial treadmill price guide, not as a per-product price. Final selection should still be based on running area, footprint, duty tier and room access.

  • Shortlist by use first: walking, running, mixed home use or commercial cardio zone.
  • Then compare running area: treadmill belt width and treadmill belt length together.
  • Next compare overall dimensions: treadmill length and width decide whether the room works.
  • Check incline and ceiling height before choosing any auto-incline model.
  • Check user-weight headroom instead of matching the user exactly to the rating.
  • Finally, confirm delivery path and installation space before approving the quote.

For curved non-motorized treadmills, the CURVE non-motorized treadmill lists Nylon belt technology, six levels of resistance and Max User Weight: 150kg; the CURVE-PRO lists Aluminium belt technology, six levels of resistance and Max User Weight: 180kg. Their catalogue specs do not include overall footprint or belt dimensions, so ask for those before room marking.
