Unisex & family gyms
Commercial gym equipment for unisex gyms
A unisex gym serves men and women, beginners and serious lifters, on the same floor at the same peak hour. The equipment plan has to work for all of them at once: enough cardio for the evening rush, glute and leg machines that many women members prioritise, and a heavy free-weight zone that does not crowd everyone else. WTF supplies the duty-rated machines that run in 260+ WTF gyms.
What we design around
The real constraint for a unisex gym
One floor shared by very different members at the same time, so the layout has to separate heavy lifting from cardio and machine circuits, keep sight-lines open, and offer weights and stacks that start light and go heavy.
The equipment mix
What a unisex gym needs
- A cardio line of treadmills, spin bikes and elliptical cross trainers
- Glute and leg machines: hip thrust, abductor / adductor, leg press
- A selectorized circuit for chest, back, shoulders and legs
- A free-weight zone with racks, Olympic bars and plates
- Hexagon dumbbells from 2.5 kg up to heavy pairs, with racks
- A functional trainer, benches and a stretching corner
Buyer considerations
What actually matters
- Zone the floor: free weights, machines and cardio each get their own area.
- Glute, leg and core stations sized for peak demand from women members.
- Light-start stacks and dumbbells beside a serious heavy zone for experienced lifters.
- Open sight-lines, good lighting and a separate stretching and floor-work corner.

FAQs
Equipping a unisex gyms
What equipment does a unisex gym need?
A balanced floor: a cardio line, a selectorized circuit, glute and leg machines such as hip thrust and abductor / adductor, a rack-and-platform free-weight zone, dumbbells from 2.5 kg to heavy pairs, benches and a stretching corner. We size each zone to your floor and your expected peak hour.
How should a unisex gym floor be laid out?
Keep the heavy free-weight zone on one side with rubber flooring, the machine circuit in the middle and the cardio line along a wall or window. A separate stretching and floor-work corner keeps traffic away from the lifting area. Our free 3D layout shows the zones on your actual floor plan.
